William 'Some-Other-Guy' Shakespeare
(1564-1616)
Okay, folks, here's the deal. I've been swamped with e-mail on the whole Marlowe-as-author-of-the-works-of-Shakespeare controversy. (Well, actually, it was three pieces of e-mail, all from the same person.) But the point is, there are quite a few places out there which are hotly debating the whole question. So here you are:
- If you believe Marlowe was the author of the Shakespeare works, go here.
- If you believe Sir Francis Bacon was the author, go here.
- If you believe Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, was the author, go here.
- If you believe William Shakespeare wrote William Shakespeare, go here or here.
Be prepared for flames in all locations. (This whole controversy is one reason why I didn't do a Shakespeare biography...I was hoping to avoid the whole mess. It's scary.)
