EPA Makes Salt Illegal
In a recent act to make urban drinking water more safe, the EPA helped
push a bill through Congress that severely limits the acceptable amount
of chlorine and chloride chemicals allowed in water systems.
The legislation that passed, however, had such a wide definition of
'chloride chemicals' that salt (in quantities of greater than 13 PPM)
would be considered 'unacceptably dangerous'.
The House majority leader offered no comment as to whether the law
would be revised this session. A spokesperson from the Wieliczka
Salt Mining Company called the new law 'Just plain goofy'.
