Instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Synth

Feel: Grooving, Driving, Mysterious

Let's talk about why so much film music sounds like this. The construction allows any part to be muted and otherwise sculpted around the dialog without the loss of a theme or motive energy. There isn't really a theme to lose. You can't hum this one easily. There is a lot of variation, but it is all in a very well defined range, and doesn't get too crazy.

"Robobozo"

Instruments: Synths, Percussion, Guitar

Feel: Bouncy, Grooving, Dark

Deeply satisfying synths play in a slightly dystopian domain. So if you have a film where a future vampire who owns a travelling carnival comes back in time to today with a crazy assemblage of experiences for today's currently not-yet-jaded audiences... that is your piece! Also useful for cat parkour.

Comedic "hard thinking" music. Chances are you won't need the entire piece if you are making a film. I made it so you can cut it up into different sounding sections of various seriousness. If you're using it for a video game, everything flows together well, or you could loop sections that work best.

Instruments: Guitar, Synths, Percussion

Feel: Bright, Relaxed, Calming, Uplifting

Quite a broad piece. Could be used for corporate films of intricate industrial processes, or a flashback scene to the time at the lake a few summers ago. Maybe good background to your cousin's magic show at the last family reunion. Or a film where you do "industrial processes" at the "lake" with your "cousin". It is really quite versatile! It is the future? It certainly sounds like it... What would I use this for? Probably a video game with non-action gameplay. Certainly a montage of some futuristic film... or maybe one of those sandwiched scenes where a person is walking in the rain, but you don't get any of the sounds of the actual rain... just this piece. No dialog, no voiceover, just walking. Do they have a name for those scenes? They must. You can download this in uncompressed format here. "Gymnopedie No. 3"

Instruments: Piano

Feel: Calming, Mysterious

A slow waltz with a beautiful and haunting melody played mostly in the higher registers. A few notes were added to Satie?s composition to keep things interesting and give the music a more full sound, the music ends with a very dark chord. This music is sad and tragic, and could be used as accompaniment to a slow dance or an art house film. Composed by Erik Satie.

"Iron Horse - Distressed"

Instruments: Piano

Feel: Dark, Driving, Intense

Darkly plodding, this staccato piano piece is the tense setting for the classic silent film scene: the heroine is tied to the train tracks, the steam engine train plugging along towards her. The chug-a-chug feel is maintained by a tense hammering of the chords in triplets, depicting machinery or chaos set in motion without an end in sight.
