Bit Quest

"Bit Quest"

Instruments: Synths, Percussion

Feel: Bouncy, Bright

Wonderful 8-Bit ditty for an exploring action adventure platformer. My favorite part is at 16 seconds in... The rest of the piece was written around that theme. Check it out, yo! Careful of the spiked kittens on level 7... not cuddly.

Groundwork

"Groundwork"

Instruments: Bass, Drums, Guitar, Piano

Feel: Bouncy, Bright

Stop it! Stop complaining, it is supposed to end like that! This is a loopable piece. Why? You never know how long your voice-overed tour of the cardboard factory is going to take... Or your real estate tour... Or your appendectomy video... Or your video of that one train by your house. Uncompressed download comes with a faster version, and a slower version.

Kings of Tara

"Kings of Tara"

Instruments: Bass, Drums, Kit, Guitar, Flute, Banjo

Feel: Bouncy, Bright, Grooving

This one is just cool. If you just tried to dance to this and fell over, that's because every measure is missing one beat. Still it grooves quite well, assuming you can groove in 7/4 time. Uncompressed download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.

Ultra Polka

"Ultra Polka"

Instruments: Synths, Percussion

Feel: Bouncy, Humorous

I tried to do an EDM piece using one of my new accordions... turns out, accordion just doesn't have the fast attack needed to do fast electronic things. The melody and chords were written for a diatonic button box, but I was never able to get the live recording to work. No worries! I just turned this monster up to 11. The uncompressed download comes with a faster and slower version.

The Show Must Be Go

"The Show Must Be Go"

Instruments: Bass, Guitar, Diddley Bow, Clarinet, Trumpet, Vibraphone, Horns, Kit, Percussion

Feel: Bouncy, Humorous

Sort of inspired by the 1930s, and sort of inspired by all-out weird. Definitely recommend taking a listen to this piece. Make sure you get to the 1 minute mark... fun times trumpet playing await! I personally enjoy how the clarinet play tries to follow the trumpet player - doesn't work out so well.

What Is Love

"What Is Love"

Instruments: Synths, Percussion, Strings

Feel: Calming, Relaxed

What is love? Apparently, it is an odd mix of 1980's synthy love songs and modern trap beats. I don't think there is anything like this out there... which may be a fine thing - or I've just invented a genre. Crooner-Synth Trap-Pop.

Upbeat Forever

"Upbeat Forever"

Instruments: Bass, Guitar, Drums, Horns

Feel: Bouncy, Bright

Ska! Ska! Ska! At least, I hope it gives that impression. Works pretty well for a lively background to most anything! This was written for an improv comedy group... so they would have something reasonable to sing to - if an audience member suggests it.

Spellbound

"Spellbound"

Instruments: Synths, Voice, Percussion

Feel: Mystical, Eerie, Mysterious, Calming, Dark

Reverbs, reverbs, reverbs! You want reverbs in you music, you got reverbs right here! Room reverbs, plate reverbs, even some spring reverbs! It is amazing! It is incredible! How can there be so much reverb?! So... why... You get a very hollow spooky thin feeling with the reverbs. This started out as an attempt to understand Witch House music. Pretty sure I still don't understand it.

Mystic Force

"Mystic Force"

Instruments: Gamelan, Helicon, Percussion

Feel: Mystical, Eerie, Mysterious, Calming, Dark

Vaguely exotic sounding, yet still comfortably tonal, this piece certainly falls between some cracks. Gamelan is listed as an instrument... but that's sort of like listing an orchestra as an instrument... which I sometimes do. The other thing in here is that helicon. Imagine you take a french horn (which is like 5 meters of tubes) and make it even bigger! I guess it is also the name of a mountain in Greece? I did not use the mountain in this piece.

Kawai Kitsune

"Kawai Kitsune"

Instruments: Synths, Percussion

Feel: Bouncy, Bright, Calming

A very electronic semi-soothing piece of bleeps and bloops! I originally wrote this piece to be calm, but in the uncompressed download, there are a couple of faster versions! YOU CANNOT CONTAIN THE EXCITEMENT!

"Meanwhile in Bavaria"
