Mountain Emperor "Mountain Emperor" Instruments: Taiko Drums, Gamelan Feel: Action, Driving, Mystical So many big drums! All the big drums in all one place! Bonus; Extra people banging on gamelan metals! Uncompressed download comes with a version with just the drums... I'm not sure if this of for non-musicologists who may not like the gamelan - or specifically for musicologists who think I've used the gamelan improperly. Mystery Bazaar "Mystery Bazaar" Instruments: Santur, Strings, Percussion Feel: Calming, Dark, Mysterious Well met, traveller! Come warm by my brazier... Is that a Djinn in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? Hah! I have a joke with you! ...unless it is a djinn - then you must leave immediately! ...unless that would offend the djinn - then you must stay! ...unless the djinn is going to kill me - then you must leave immediately! ...unless it will save me from a fate worse than death - then you must stay! River of Io "River of Io" Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Strings, Percussion Feel: Driving, Mysterious, Suspenseful I would like to state, for the record, that this is the worst river cruise I've ever taken. The zombie crocodiles were bad enough, but the chase for the stolen artifact statue that was taken by the Ice Monkey Lord was really quite too much. And now I'm missing my left shoe. So why are we up sneaking around UFO landing sites? NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE!!! You got some clandestine stuff going on? This track will probably work for any sneakiness anywhere. Ascending the Vale "Ascending the Vale" Instruments: Harp, Choir, Flute Percussion, Anyafil Horn Feel: Relaxed, Calming, Mystical We've all been there... wandering through an impenetrable forest, half dead with 2 arrows sticking out of your leg. And yet we continue - because it is probably good for the narrative. Then hope! Oh thank the old gods and the new!! An unmapped settlement of woodland inhabitants takes you in and brings you back from the brink of certain death. You don't even care that it is a scurry of giant squirrels that came to the rescue, or that the healing soup they give you is largely acorn-based, and vomit-inducing. Pastoral and beautiful. The download comes with a loop for if you never want the feeling to end. ISRC: USUAN1600064 90 bpm Genre: Soundtrack Length: 4:08 Download "Ascending the Vale" as mp3 Listen Now! Gregorian Chant "Gregorian Chant" Instruments: Synth, Choir Feel: Mystical, Somber Is it a real Gregorian Chant? Nope. For one - there are no real words in it. Honestly, I don't want a religious exaltation mucking up my fantasy world. So if you're building a historically accurate "Monk Simulator: Year of Our Lord 882!", just move on. The other reason this isn't real is I never learned how to read that notation. There are insufficient sticks for the rhythms in the notation... I know, there is a real convention that you can learn. I just grabbed a few pieces of the sheet music from the 1200s, and guessed at how to do it. Sounds reasonable enough to me! Vanishing "Vanishing" Instruments: Prepared Piano, Bass Clarinet, Cello, Clarinet, English Horn, Tuba, Trombones, French Horns, Oboe, Synth, Violin, Flutes Feel: Dark, Eerie, Mysterious Several distinct moods are found in this piece. They start at 0:00, 1:23, 2:31, and 3:10. They do all flow into each other, but can be sliced apart pretty easily. Some are quite beautiful, so stick with this piece. Excellent piece for filmmakers! Magic Forest "Magic Forest" Instruments: Cello, Violin, Synths Feel: Mystical, Dark, Mysterious Remember that time you were lost in the woods and you were visited by the clan of centaurs, and they were super suspicious of you, but decided to take you back to their settlement anyway? It never happened! That was a screen memory! There are no centaurs, and they wouldn't live in forest settlements! That was an alien abduction. The aliens planted the memory of the forest centaurs so your brain wouldn't implode with the knowledge of trans-dimensional beings... such as themselves. And... unrelated, but... what comes to mind when you think about the smell of wet cardboard and Sriracha? ISRC: USUAN1600044 Genre: Soundtrack Length: 4:20 Download "Magic Forest" as mp3 Listen Now! Soaring "Soaring" Instruments: Synths Feel: Mystical, Calming, Relaxed While not an epic hour-long relaxation juggernaut, Soaring is an excellent relaxation workhorse with just enough mystical qualities to keep it from being truly peaceful. Imagine a calm monkey hanging out at a remote monastery who, from time to time, will touch a tree - causing the tree to age a decade in a matter of seconds. I mean... still pretty calm, but something isn't right about that. ISRC: USUAN1600040 Genre: Contemporary Length: 6:20 Download "Soaring" as mp3 Get it from iTunes! Listen Now! Secret of Tiki Island "Secret of Tiki Island" Instruments: Bass, Piano, Percussion, Vibes, Guitar, Vocals, Organ Feel: Eerie, Grooving, Mysterious, Calming Co-written with Bryan Teoh while he was on vacation (Thanks Bryan!) this is all the mystery and chill groove you need. So come on you cats and swingers, enjoy yourself a Jet Pilot (served in a pineapple of course) and help unravel the Secret of Tiki Island! Can you save yourself and the island from the Volcano!? No. Of course you can't. It is a freaking VOLCANO. If the pyroclastic flows and lahars don't kill you, the carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide probably will.
