Instruments: EP, Violas, Cellos, Strings
Feel: Suspenseful, Dark, Somber
This is the Miami Nights main theme motive, but really quite sad. You know what's awesome? This "string synth" is 8 actual cellos and 12 violas... multi-tracked 4 times. Technology! So much power, you can't help but abuse it!

Part one of seven. Sort of an edgy-underwater feel... which isn't common. You can feel the struggle just trying to get the sounds out. Imagine a small rhinoceros at a tea party. The image you have in your head has nothing to do with this piece; But it is quite amusing.

"Send for the Horses"
Instruments: Synths, Singer
Feel: Dark, Mystical, Somber
Floaty! Ethereal! Useful for dream sequences. Or those montages of sad people standing in the rain.
Instruments: Synth, Cello, Piano, Choir
Feel: Calming, Relaxed, Somber
Ok, I might be crying a little bit. But it is understandable... I went to a party store, and I saw all the colorful balloons with happy sayings on them like "Get Well" and "Feel Better" and "A Hug for You"... I just started thinking how the helium will all be gone one day. Just gone... we won't get it back, and it took millions of years of radioactive decay to get the helium we have now... and... *sniff* we just don't have millions more years to wait for more. They're wasting helium in balloons... how can I possibly "Feel Better"!?
Instruments: Synth, Choir
Feel: Mystical, Somber
Is it a real Gregorian Chant? Nope. For one - there are no real words in it. Honestly, I don't want a religious exaltation mucking up my fantasy world. So if you're building a historically accurate "Monk Simulator: Year of Our Lord 882!", just move on. The other reason this isn't real is I never learned how to read that notation. There are insufficient sticks for the rhythms in the notation... I know, there is a real convention that you can learn. I just grabbed a few pieces of the sheet music from the 1200s, and guessed at how to do it. Sounds reasonable enough to me! (says the guy who knows virtually nothing about the art)
Instruments: Uilleann Pipes, Bagpipes, Drums, Synth
Feel: Eerie, Mystical, Somber
Pipes, pipes, and more pipes! Irish? Scottish? Celtic? I have no idea. But sure - could be any of those. Let's call it "Ancient British Isles". You can download this in uncompressed format here. Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.
Instruments: Synths, Percussion
Feel: Somber, Relaxed, Mystical, Calming
It is the future? It certainly sounds like it... What would I use this for? Probably a video game with non-action gameplay. Certainly a montage of some futuristic film... or maybe one of those sandwiched scenes where a person is walking in the rain, but you don't get any of the sounds of the actual rain... just this piece. No dialog, no voiceover, just walking. Do they have a name for those scenes? They must. You can download this in uncompressed format here. Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.
Instruments: Bass Flute, Synths, Percussion
Feel: Somber, Relaxed, Mystical, Calming
Wikipedia describes the Thunderbird as "a supernatural bird of power and strength". It will also ask you to disambiguate it from the automobile made by Ford from 1955 to 2005. I'm sure it was a nice car. I've never owned one. But there were a lot of them! The late 70's Thunderbirds are particularly horrifying... They had those headlight covers that flipped up... because that was a good idea at some point. But this piece! Oh! This piece! Atmosphere like you wouldn't believe! The flute is just so earthy! The organic drones are also beautiful. The whole thing is beautiful. Kind of like you went to an alien day spa in another dimension where days last for years, but you still never get all wrinkly when you're in the bubbly warm waters. mmmm... bubbly warm waters... with the slight possibility of a serial killer. Instruments: Piano, Strings
Feel: Calming, Mystical, Relaxed, Somber
Minimal and somewhat droney in parts, this has a beautiful calmness about it. You can use it to sell anti-depressants or high performance automobile parts. Also useful for time-lapse photography of the night sky... or maybe a rocket launch. You can download this in uncompressed format here. Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.
Instruments: Lute, Cellos, Basses, Penny Whistle
Feel: Dark, Somber, Mystical
We've all been there. It is a little sad, a little hopeful... like when you finally set your rescue owl back into the world. You're sad to see her go, but you hope for the best. You've done all you can inside... her wings work pretty well now, and she can snatch the mice from your living room floor even when you put in a bunch of fake plants in the way to give the prey cover. Nothing to do now but hope Blossom can rule the night as you hoped she one day would. Also... time to buy a bunch of mousetraps. You can download this in uncompressed format here. Download comes with individual tracks so you can make your own mixes.
Instruments: Basses, Cellos, Tuba, Trombones, Prepared Piano, Voice, Drums
Feel: Eerie, Mysterious, Somber, Dark
This has a little bit of early music flair to it with a nice vocal performance (if you don't like the vocals, you can get a version without in the super download). I've listened to this piece non-stop for like an hour. Still beautiful! The least you could do is listen to this once! It is only a few minutes. Go ahead!
