Shenyang "Shenyang" Instruments: Erhu, Pipa, Yangqin, Percussion Feel: Bright, Relaxed When I do music based on folk traditions, I tend to name them after cities. Like this one: Shenyang. It is a little village of 8 million people that I've somehow never heard of. Oh sure, I've heard the name, but I don't associate it with anything specific. Chicago: Hot Dogs. Amsterdam: Offensively tall Dutch. Moscow: "Stop a Douchebag". Shenyang: No clue. How did I miss this city?? You already know if you need this piece, it has a more satisfying low-end than actual real Chinese music, and it should fit in with your modern productions well. River of Io "River of Io" Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Strings, Percussion Feel: Driving, Mysterious, Suspenseful I would like to state, for the record, that this is the worst river cruise I've ever taken. The zombie crocodiles were bad enough, but the chase for the stolen artifact statue that was taken by the Ice Monkey Lord was really quite too much. And now I'm missing my left shoe. So why are we up sneaking around UFO landing sites? NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE!!! You got some clandestine stuff going on? This track will probably work for any sneakiness anywhere. Ascending the Vale "Ascending the Vale" Instruments: Harp, Choir, Flute Percussion, Anyafil Horn Feel: Relaxed, Calming, Mystical We've all been there... wandering through an impenetrable forest, half dead with 2 arrows sticking out of your leg. And yet we continue - because it is probably good for the narrative. Then hope! Oh thank the old gods and the new!! An unmapped settlement of woodland inhabitants takes you in and brings you back from the brink of certain death. You don't even care that it is a scurry of giant squirrels that came to the rescue, or that the healing soup they give you is largely acorn-based, and vomit-inducing. Pastoral and beautiful. The download comes with a loop for if you never want the feeling to end. ISRC: USUAN1600064 90 bpm Genre: Soundtrack Length: 4:08 Download "Ascending the Vale" as mp3 Listen Now! Fireflies and Stardust "Fireflies and Stardust" Instruments: Banjo, Violins, Mandolin, Guitars, Bass, Drums Feel: Bright, Calming, Relaxed Some beautiful rural americana-type music. I mean, just listen to that! It is an 8 piece ensemble, and everyone is playing a lot of notes, yet it remains so simple. Okay, the violins aren't playing that many notes... had to pick up the 2nd violin off the waiver wires, and there wasn't enough time to get her up to speed on the offense for this piece. So we made an executive decision, and kept things simple. We should still be able to get some good yardage here, and hope to win on defense. Thinking Music "Thinking Music" Instruments: Cello, Viola, Violin, Harp Feel: Dark, Humorous, Suspenseful Comedic "hard thinking" music. Chances are you won't need the entire piece if you are making a film. I made it so you can cut it up into different sounding sections of various seriousness. If you're using it for a video game, everything flows together well, or you could loop sections that work best. Lobby Time "Lobby Time" Instruments: Vibes, Piano, Bass, Drums Feel: Calming, Grooving, Relaxed Welcome to the lobby of the FUTURE! Luxurious automatic ashtrays, and modern green vinyl furnishings set off the shag carpeted walls. Enjoy a Rusty Nail from our cheerful bar staff (with a complimentary cheese and fruit plate before 5pm). We feature prime rib dinners every day that ends in a "y"! Remember to tip the bellhops at least 5 cents per bag. Enjoy your stay! This was written 2 years before it was published, because I didn't have a good enough upright bass sample to make it go. Vanishing "Vanishing" Instruments: Prepared Piano, Bass Clarinet, Cello, Clarinet, English Horn, Tuba, Trombones, French Horns, Oboe, Synth, Violin, Flutes Feel: Dark, Eerie, Mysterious Several distinct moods are found in this piece. They start at 0:00, 1:23, 2:31, and 3:10. They do all flow into each other, but can be sliced apart pretty easily. Some are quite beautiful, so stick with this piece. Excellent piece for filmmakers! ZigZag "ZigZag" Instruments: Bass, Drums, Guitar, Mellotron, Synth Feel: Grooving, Relaxed A little aggressive, a little chill, a little groovy, a little cool. Not entirely appropriate for all occasions, but in the right context - it may be just what you need! This is the "Goth 7th-Grader" of the music world. The instrument with the sharp chord hits is the mighty Mellotron, which is a pre-sampler sort of analog keyboard attached to a bunch of tape players. I cheated. This one is digital. Gregorian Chant "Gregorian Chant" Instruments: Synth, Choir Feel: Mystical, Somber Is it a real Gregorian Chant? Nope. For one - there are no real words in it. Honestly, I don't want a religious exaltation mucking up my fantasy world. So if you're building a historically accurate "Monk Simulator: Year of Our Lord 882!", just move on. The other reason this isn't real is I never learned how to read that notation. There are insufficient sticks for the rhythms in the notation... I know, there is a real convention that you can learn. I just grabbed a few pieces of the sheet music from the 1200s, and guessed at how to do it. Sounds reasonable enough to me! Industrial Cinematic "Industrial Cinematic" Instruments: Percussion, Synths Feel: Driving, Suspenseful The Year: Future Year. The planet has been ravaged by desertification... that apparently no one saw coming... Not sure how that happened, I mean Jeez! Anyone ever hear of a little disaster called "The Aral Sea"? That seriously screwed up... like... everything. I guess the dam is supposed to help, but I'm seriously not holding my breath. Oh. Industrial-sounding music. Chill Wave "Chill Wave" Instruments: Synths, Bass, Drum, Guitar Feel: Grooving, Relaxed I was looking for a subject to analogize the depth of my knowledge for the Chill Wave genre of music. Wikipedia was there for me with entire things that I didn't even know were things; Randle Cotgrave! Yeon Namgeon! Digital Mammographic Imaging! Rebelj, Serbia! In brief... I know nothing about Chill Wave. Hope you enjoy the fruits of ignorance! ISRC: USUAN1600048 100 bpm Genre: Funk Length: 4:00 Download "Chill Wave" as mp3 Get it from iTunes! Listen Now!
