Not Yet AI Music

I’ve been playing with a computer generating music. This is my first iteration – it does one very specific thing, and it is starting to sound okay. I taught it drumming myself with some VERY simple rules. It seems to be working out okay.

var counter = 2;
var accents = [9,1,2,1,8,2,3,2,9,2,1,2,8,3,5,4];
function HandleMIDI(event)
	var keeper = getRandomIntInclusive(1,3);
	var dropper = getRandomIntInclusive(1,9);
	var variations = getRandomIntInclusive(-20,40);
	if (event instanceof NoteOn && keeper < accents[counter] ){
		event.velocity += accents[counter]*2;
		if (dropper <= accents[counter])
			event.pitch = 38;
		else {event.pitch = 40}
	if (event instanceof NoteOff ){
	if (event instanceof NoteOn ){++counter;}
	if (counter == 16){counter = 0;}
I'm going to be making this more general, and it will shortly have the ability to do crescendos, drops, and melodies... so - I don't need comments on my code quite yet. :-)

Take a listen!

EU Political Soapbox

I don’t do this often, because… most of the time it doesn’t help. But if you’re in the EU, please consider a petition… because it may help!

While, it isn’t comprehensive copyright reform – education copyright reform in the EU should be a no-brainer! If you’re in the EU, please make the world suck a little less, and help get the world on a path to more reasonable copyright laws.

Call-to-action link to

“If a French music teacher wants to play her students a piece of contemporary music online, she might be unable to play the entire song in class.”

Good thing there is nothing else for the people of France to worry about at the moment. Seriously, though… please help out!

New Donated Music!

I got three excellent donations to up today.
Special thanks to Max Fedorov for Spring, Distant Star, and Constructor. Top notch work, appropriate for all sort of things… plus – Public Domain!

Problems with “Concentration”

I published a piece called “Concentration”.
Someone called Krzysztof Janiewicz took my piece, and started selling it as his own composition.

This causes problems. Most notably, people are getting caution letters from YouTube’s Content ID.
There is a window of opportunity where this can happen, between when I publish something, and it gets onto the Content ID whitelist (it needs to be done by a human at YouTube). Well, this guy hit that window and people are flipping out…

Do not panic!

1) Contest the claim.

Krzysztof Janiewicz should release it, and you will get your ad revenue, and there should be no more problems! (while we wait for the whitelist to kick in)

If you do contest it and they reject the contest then
2) Let me know!

I’ve already contacted my lawyer about getting it pulled from the online stores where I found it. If you are Krzysztof Janiewicz, probably a good idea to pull my music from your distribution sooner than later. If you know Krzysztof Janiewicz, please inform him of this.

Friday Roundup!

I made the rounds for an interview on Ron’s Amazing Stories!
It has been a few years, and I’m happy to be invited back!!

I got the best drop of new, quality Public Domain music I’ve ever gotten from You can get the music direct from him (and leave a nice note, because this stuff is NICE!) or you can fumble around to find it at!

Sheet Music!

I don’t generally produce sheet music of my stuff… You know who did? Brandon!
He sent me very serviceable PDF versions of 5 piece that did not exist in notated form before today!
Cyborg Ninja, Happy Happy Game_Show, March of the Spoons, Overworld, and Pixelland You can always check the descriptions of my music to see if there is sheet music available… you will almost always be disappointed.

Again with the Music??

Oh man… this one is nice…

This one features the “1-take level” of sax talent that is Mr. Steve Johnson. I know. I was there! Big props to real musicians who make a producer’s life so much easier.

Free to use in all your project things (with credit of course).

New Music from Brett!

Here’s a neat beautiful piece you can use for frees! It is like a fairy data report meeting!

And a more orchestral-y one, if that’s your jam. (I know because of the title, “Orchestral Mountain”.)
